I can NOT believe that...

...SUMMER IS OVER!!! I’ve been away for a little bit! I apologize! A lot has happened since I last blogged.

Summer and Winter…Spring time and Harvest… It is ALREADY FALL! Well, not technically… But school being back in session, brisk mornings and cool evenings let us know Autumn is here. We have had such a rough year and I was hoping Summer would stick around just a little while longer. I am a summer baby- born in August and so naturally, I like the heat! Fall brings about beautiful colors, pumpkin spice, child favorite Halloween, and adult favorite, Thanksgiving.

Here are some fun facts about the Fall Season.

· Fall babies are more likely to live longer lives.

(Congrats all you fall babies... You will live long and prosper)

· The yellow and orange colors you see actually always exist in leaves but they are overpowered by the abundance of green from chlorophyll. The amount of chlorophyll starts to decrease as the sun weakens and the days grow shorter.

(So when we move the gunk outta our lives, our true colors shine thorugh... OH'SHA-TA!!!)

· Fall Is caused by the Earth’s tilt, not our distance from the sun

(This is news to me!!)

· Weight gain around this time of year may not only be due to delicious fall delicacies like sweet potato pie, researchers have found that lack of vitamin D (from the sun) reduces fat breakdown and triggers fat storage.

That last one is what interested me the most… So you’re telling me it’s not the Labor Day cookout, Halloween candy, and Thanksgiving feast that added a few extra pounds? And I just need some sun? WORKS FOR ME!

One of my fondest childhood memories is going door to door raking leaves for neighbors. One neighbor had a few HUGE trees and my older sister and I raked everything up and put it in pumpkin bags. Once he got home, his yard was once again filled with leaves because one of the very large trees decided to drop all its leaves after we’d finished. He let us keep the $15, but he didn’t hire us again LOL. The next day, his grandson, who I happened to be good friends with, came over and opened all the bags and we jumped in piles of leaves. So basically, we did all that work for NOTHING!

What are your fondest memories about fall? Or what are you most looking forward to?

I would love to hear from you!
